It was a lovely weekend here in South Carolina, one we started off on the right foot when the Eldest’s team, the Cardinals, beat the number one team in the league to advance to the next round of the the GLL playoffs.
Although we won 16-9, it was a serious nail-biter, the kind of game that makes me wonder how I’m going to make it through the remainder of my children’s sporting events, especially given the fact the Eldest is seven. And playing Coach Pitch. Lord help me. This helped me too, after the fact.
The next morning I was feeling a little wild and made these-but don’t be too impressed. I used puff pastry rather than fully making them from scratch, though I did top them with some ho-made cream cheese frosting that was divine, in my estimation. The kids were all, eh, so-so.

And the rest…C is for Cookie slips, beautiful flowers from a sweet, thoughtful friend, and, of course, my predictable laundry room. Kelley 2.0 hasn’t exactly turned over yet, and if I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure she’s ever going to update.
In other news, we’ve taken a boarder by the name of Alex Howes this week. He’s a 24 year-old pro cyclist for Team Garmin Barracuda, and he’ll be racing this coming weekend in the USA Cycling Pro Championships. Let’s hope he doesn’t mind children, or dogs, or dust, or legos, or monster trucks, or large piles of laundry. He arrives tonight to the tornado that is the Barnhardt household from sunny California, where he was just racing in the Tour of California.
After seeing this website he’ll likely want one of those cute seersucker Mint Everything Totes to take with him to Spain, where he currently resides. Perfect for all his cycling gear, right? They don’t call them Everything Totes for nothing.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and a great Monday, and that May is treating you well. May may be the new December, given the graduations and field trips and picnics and parties and playoffs, but we’re hanging in there! Thanks for checking in!
